Ezra Pound (1885­1972) was an influential American poet, critic and translator who drew on a wide array of themes to interpret cultural history. His major work, The Cantos of Ezra Pound , was published in its entirety in 1970. His writing helped chart the course of both English and American criticism in the early 20th century. He associated with many of the century’s greatest writers, including Gertrude Stein, Ernest Hemingway, and T. S. Eliot.
